Taylor Swift promotes her Eras Tour Movie on Instagram

It seems that every single day, Taylor Swift is trending for one reason or another. Her amazing Eras Tour was a record breaking, smashing success in the US and is continuing throughout the globe. Swift’s album Midnights won 2 Grammys this year. Her relationship with the Super Bowl winning Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce is nearly fairy tale status, and I’m sure it’s going to inspire a slew of Lavender Haze style love songs. She’s one of the most well-known people in the entire world, especially here in the US.

Taylor has dipped her toe into politics before with a couple of key songs. Only The Young was her first foray into sharing her political opinion. Since then, Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince and Only The Young have highlighted the charts. Most performers nowadays avoid political content because it can cause them to lose many of their fans. It’s a tricky business after all, and as a country, we’re divided on the issues. Not everyone can do it. If a singer starts off political, then that’s what they’re going to be cast as, and may never get enough fans to be successful. Those that are moderately popular may lose too many fans and it can have a heavy impact. But when you’re as popular as Taylor Swift is, it all goes out the window. In fact, she has grown even MORE popular since these songs.

This brings us to the question at hand, the one everyone has been asking lately. Will Taylor Swift officially endorse Joe Biden for a second term as President this year? And if she does, will it make enough of a difference for Biden to beat Donald Trump? Let’s tackle that second question first, shall we?

Can Biden beat Trump? Again? Well, that depends… On the Democrats. It’s completely in their hands. According to Ballotpedia, there are around 48 million registered Democrats compared to only 36 million Republicans and 35 million Independents. That’s a whopping 12 million more Liberals than Conservatives. Based on this alone, the Democratic Nominee should beat the Republican Nominee every time. But that doesn’t always happen, which is why we got President Trump in the first place. Why? APATHY!

In 2016 when Hilary Clinton lost to Trump, she earned 65.8 million votes. Democratic voters thought it’s be impossible for someone like Trump to be taken seriously by their own party, so many of them and the left leaning independents, simply stayed home. In comparison, in 2020 when Biden beat Trump, Joe earned a staggering 81 million votes! This difference was because we already saw the damage Trump was inflicting on our great country, so everyone got out to vote, and it made a huge difference.

So what about 2024? Based upon what I’m seeing so far, it’s not looking good for the Liberals. Trump is the strongest Republican nominee that they’ve seen in decades, crushing his fellow conservative opponents. Biden is dealing with issues related to his age and his brother. Pro MAGA voters are fired up, while Anti MAGA voters aren’t as keen on getting to the poles to vote for someone like Biden. Just look around. How many Biden stickers, shirts, hats and other advertisements do you see? How many for Trump? It’s overwhelmingly on the side of Trump.

This is where Taylor Swift can come in to help. People love Swift. According to a Monmouth University poll 75% of people that had on opinion on Taylor, approved of her. Even among republicans, Swift only has an 18% unfavorable rating. Best of all, her calls to action actually bring action. In 2018 when she asked people to register to vote in a simple Instagram post, it resulted in a 23% bump in voter registrations. If Taylor were to actually endorse Biden and encourage people to get out there and vote, it could absolutely overcome the apathy equation just enough to beat The Donald. In fact, the difference between 2016 vs 2020 democratic voters? 23%.

Now the bigger question is, WILL SHE? Will Taylor Swift actually endorse Joe Biden for President 2024? I’m sure she’s weighing that decision. She’s proven over and over how intelligent she is. She thinks things through and looks at all of her options. The biggest is this… What if she endorsed Biden and he still loses? Trump and his Trumpetts could go after Swift with a heavy dose of negative publicity. Could her career withstand it? Can Taylor, as a person, deal with it? These are things she needs to consider before making a final decision.

I think most of it is up to us. If we can encourage her and offer up our support to her through social media posts, she may be more willing to consider it. Either way, if she chooses to offer up the endorsement, it will likely be after the Primaries are over, when it’s officially Biden Vs. Trump.
